A warm welcome to Eileen Mckinnis, River Community new Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor.

Eileen worked as a legal secretary in 2010 but began her journey in the field of drug and alcohol addiction by enrolling in a Chemical Dependency Studies course.

“At the end of my first class, I was mesmerized at the complexities of addiction. After watching the damage addiction caused with family and friends, plus struggling with addictive tendencies personally, I decided to take the plunge and seek a career as an Addiction Counselor,” Eileen said.

Eileen got her bachelor’s degree in psychology then completed a master’s degree in human services. Through CCAPP, she was able to become a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor and continues to seek certifications that will help her be a more effective counselor.

Eileen started working at River Community as a temporary employee, but due to her outstanding work ethic, professionalism, teamwork approach, and incredible rapport with the residents, she was offered a permanent position.

“The most important goal for me is to help provide tools for successful transition from addiction to sobriety. I’m grateful to be able to be a part of the Social Model Recovery Systems family,” she added.
