Celebrating the Women for International Women’s Month at Royal Palms.

The women from Mariposa, Bimini, and Royal Palms gathered to celebrate International Women’s Month, an event to glorify the residents’ achievements of continuing to remain clean/sober.

The staff conducted workshops for the residents. Everyone had an opportunity to share with their respective group about women in their lives who inspired them on their path to a healthy lifestyle.

International Women’s Month, also known as Women’s History Month, is celebrated annually in March to highlight and honor the contributions and achievements of women throughout history and contemporary society. It serves as a time to recognize the struggles and challenges that women have faced and continue to face in terms of gender equality and women’s rights.

The idea for Women’s History Month originated in the United States in 1981, when Congress passed a resolution establishing a national celebration of Women’s History Week. In 1987, Congress expanded the celebration to a month-long observance, and since then, Women’s History Month has been recognized and celebrated not only in the United States but also in many countries around the world.

Most of the residents spoke about their mothers, grandmothers, sponsors, and counselors who encouraged them to stay clean and sober. Everyone had a wonderful time and participated in activities.

It was a successful event to raise awareness and promote gender equality and a perfect time to acknowledge the achievements of our residents on their journey to recovery.
